Fox News Reporter Slammed After Claiming Donald Trump Will Secure The Black Vote Because Of His Shoe Line: ‘They Love Sneakers!’

One Fox News correspondent didn’t miss his opportunity to share a controversial thought on minority Americans.

News anchor Raymond Arroyo came under fire for suggesting that Donald Trump’s new sneaker line was all he needed to get the support of Black voters because “they love sneakers.”

Raymond Arroyo made the polarizing remark during a recent segment of Fox’s The Big Weekend Show. In the clip, several anchors were discussing Donald Trump’s presidential campaign and shared their thoughts on the release of his limited edition “Never Surrender High-Tops” at Sneaker Con in Philly this past Saturday, February 17. Sharing his thoughts on the matter, Arroyo stated:

“Black support [is] eroding from Joe Biden. This is connecting with Black America because they love sneakers.”

He continued:

“This a big deal, certainly in the inner city. So when you have Trump roll out his sneaker line, they’re like, ‘wait a minute, this is cool.’ He’s reaching them on a level that defies and is above politics. The culture always trumps politics. And Trump understands culture like no politician I’ve ever seen.”

When asked by one of his co-hosts if he thinks excitement surrounding the shoe line will actually translate into votes, Arroyo added:

“Anybody willing to put 400 bucks down for a pair of sneakers? Yeah, I think that’s commitment and love. It’s something… it’s affection.”

As we recently covered, Donald Trump’s sneakers received instant adoration upon their debut at the shoe conference last weekend. The very first pair was auctioned off in a bid that ended after a super fan waged $9,000 for the limited-edition high-tops. Reportedly all pairs of the shoes – priced at $399 each – have since sold out.

As Arroyo’s opinion began circulating the internet, social media users responded, slamming the news anchor. Many called out the remark as racist, stating that it undervalues the political intelligence of Black voters. Others suggested that Blacks who vote for Trump will do so because they agree with his agendas, not because of shoes. Rapper Plies even reacted to the video, writing:

“Don’t Get Mad At Me I Didn’t Say It He Did!!!  I’ve Been Told U Who It Was Made For B/c This Is How They Feel About Y’all!!!  They Feel This Is The Level Y’all On. U Not Smart Enough For Anything Else. Connect With U Thru Sneakers  I Know I Know Trump 2024″
