Ashanti’s Mom Won’t Confirm Rumors Singer Is Pregnant: It Hasn’t Been Officially Announced

Ashanti’s mom and manager, Tina Douglas, refuses to confirm her daughter’s pregnancy until the R&B singer and boyfriend, Nelly, make an official announcement.

During the Jazz in the Gardens Music Fest 17th annual Women’s Impact Luncheon panel, one of the hosts mentioned that Ashanti was having a baby and offered her “congratulations” to Tina Douglas.

The singer’s mom then replied, 

“There’s been no announcement.. it hasn’t come out yet, but, you know, until I hear it from Ashanti and Nelly.”

Okay mamamanger! She said Uhuh, Don’t put that out there ? #Ashanti mom and manager, Tina Douglas, was not here for the host trying to get the tea. She said until Ashanti confirms it herself, let the rumor be a rumor ??

The same host then interrupted Tina Douglas after believing she shared the news too soon, 

“Oh, I thought it was public. My bad. Sorry, sorry.”

Tina Douglas chimed in again,

“No, it is public. Don’t get it twisted, but it hasn’t officially been announced.”

Ashanti and Nelly sparked pregnancy rumors when the “Country Grammar” rapper suggestively rubbed Ashanti’s belly at his Black and White Ball in St. Louis in Dec. 2023. Around that time, US Weekly also reported that the pair were expecting a baby together.

Ashanti, 43, will be a first-time mom, while Nelly, 49, shares Chanelle Haynes and Cornell Haynes III with former partner Channetta Valentine.

Ashanti and the Missouri native were first linked together in 2003. They dated on and off through the 2000s before finally splitting for good in 2013. They reunited on stage in late 2021 for Fat Joe and Ja Rule’s Verzuz battle. In April 2023, the pair were spotted holding hands at a boxing match in Las Vegas, fueling reconciliation rumors.

Nelly confirmed the relationship in September 2023, and the pair went Instagram official in October 2023 when he posted in honor of her birthday. 

A few days before the “Just a Dream” rapper’s birthday in November 2023, Ashanti reportedly gifted him a customized Chevrolet Impala at a Halloween party, a car referenced in his 2000 track “Ride Wit Me.”
