Hollywood’s biggest night has officially wrapped, and if you’re a movie lover, it’s safe to say you were tuned in.

The 96th Annual Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, was held on Sunday (March 10) at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California. Jimmy Kimmel, the late-night comedian who has hosted the event three times, returned to the Oscars stage as its host.

Da’Vine Joy Randolph delivered an empowering speech when she won Best Supporting Actress for her performance as Mary Lamb in “The Holdovers,” a role she called a “love letter” to Black women.

She said in part in her tearful speech,

“My stride for authenticity and quality allows there to be a new standard set where we can tell universal stories in Black and brown bodies. It can be accepted and enjoyed among the masses. It’s not just Black TV or Black movies for Black people.”

Also, at the 2024 Oscars, several musical artists took the stage, including Best Supporting Actor nominee Ryan Gosling, who sang, I’m Just Ken, from the movie Barbie. Ryan Gosling was accompanied by the song’s co-writers, Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt, for that performance.

Billie Eilish and her brother, Finneas O’Connell, also represented Barbie when they performed their song “What Was I Made For?”

Becky G performed for The Fire Inside from Flamin’ Hot. Scott George and the Osage Singers performed Killers of the Flower Moon’s Wahzhazhe (A Song for My People). Jon Batiste also appeared and sang his song It Never Went Away from the American Symphony.
