Candiace Dillard Bassett Reveals Bravo Asked Her To ‘Be Less Vitriol-Like’ For The Season 8 Reunion: ‘There Were Things I Would’ve Said Had I Not Been Given Those Directives’

Candiace Dillard Bassett was noticeably quieter than usual during the season 8 reunion of Real Housewives of Potomac. Now, she’s revealing why.

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight this week, the “Drive Back’ singer, 37, said that Bravo had asked her to hold back. 

“I took sort of took a different approach at this reunion at the request of the network to try and be less vitriol-like and more in a space and a spirit of moving forward. You saw some of that, I think.”

She continued,

“There were things that I would’ve said had I not been given those directives.”

The network is the reason why Candiace held back. Can you imagine them asking Nene, Porsha, Kenya, Phaedra, Kandi to hold back? It’s not clear how she would’ve spoken out unfiltered, but multiple moments went viral, including when Gizelle Bryant laughed at her for crying over her broken friendship with Robyn Dixon. 

During the heated exchange, Candiace Dillard Bassett went off on Gizelle Bryant for laughing at her and said, 

“F*ck you! F*ck you! F*ck you!”

Gizelle Bryant continued taunting and said, 

“Tears! Tears! Tears! Tears! Them fake tears be coming! [laughs]”

Host Andy Cohen called Gizelle’s trolling “kind of mean,” to which Candiace Dillard Bassett called her a “f*cking b*itch.”

After joining RHOP in season 3, Candiace Dillard Basset, who also revealed she is pregnant with her and husband Chris Bassett’s first child, announced that she is not returning for season 9.

She said in a statement to People Magazine, 

“I am filled with gratitude for the enriching friendships, personal growth and moments of introspection that have defined this journey. With a whirlwind of new opportunities and responsibilities on my plate, I have decided to take a break from RHOP. This is not a farewell, but a ‘see you later.’ I look forward to the exciting adventures that lie ahead—and, more importantly, to sharing them all with you!”

The shakeup continues as theJasmineBRAND exclusively reported that Robyn Dixon is also not returning for season 9, which she confirmed on Monday (April 15).
