Adrienne Bailon Reveals She Spent ‘Easily Over A Million’ Dollars During IVF Journey Before Welcoming Son, Ever: ‘Pretty Tough 6 Years’
Adrienne Bailon is revealing just how badly she wanted to be a mom.
The Real alum, 40, welcomed son Ever via surrogate with her husband, gospel singer Israel Houghton, in August 2022.

Now, she’s opening up about what it took for her to have her first child. Opening up about her journey, she told People Magazine on Tuesday (April 22),
“I only did eight cycles of IVF, but that doesn’t include the amount of IUIs I did and every other kind of imaginable treatments that you could imagine for fertility. So it was a pretty tough six years of trying to have my son.”
As for how much she paid, she confessed it was
“easily over a million. And that is not realistic for the average person. And I recognize that.”

“I know you guys are like, ‘Is she pregnant?’ ‘Her face is fuller’— FYI I’ve always had a really chubby face so that’s not what it is.”
“I think that as an audience we should be sensitive to the fact that everybody doesn’t get pregnant right away. I think for myself I thought it would happen so easily for me and it just hasn’t happened that way.”
“I’ve had to come to peace with that it’ll happen when it’s God’s timing and I believe in that and I have faith in all of that. But it can be really discouraging and it can be really frustrating.”
In an interview with BET in September 2022, Israel Houghton praised Adrienne Bailon’s motherhood skills.
“I think it’s just the most attractive, sexiest thing about her.”

Reciprocating the love, Adrienne added,
“I think it makes a huge difference when you have a partner that’s super hands-on. I’ve been totally blessed.”
She added in part,
“The journey is not the way I thought it would be. I obviously never thought that it would have a child through a surrogate. I always imagined that I’d be pregnant with beautiful maternity photos and all those things. And while I thought that [surrogacy] would take away from my journey as a mother, the moment I held my son, I knew I would not change a thing about how we got here!”
