Marjorie Taylor Greene Insults Fellow Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett’s Appearance During House Committee Meeting, Crockett Fires Back: ‘Bleach Blonde, Bad Built, Butch Body’

Things got heated during a House meeting Thursday night (May 16).

In footage that has gone beyond viral, congresswomen Marjorie Taylor Greene and Jasmine Crockett had a few words during the House Oversight Committee meeting.

It began when they had a disagreement, sparking Marjorie Taylor Greene to tell Jasmine Crockett, 

“I think your fake eyelashes are messing up what you’re reading.”

The committee was clearly shocked by the remark as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) intervened, calling out Marjorie Taylor Greene’s critique and demanding the committee strike it. She told Greene,

“That is absolutely unacceptable, how dare you attack the physical appearance of another person.”

To which Greene quipped,

“Are your feelings hurt?”

Though she agreed to strike it, she also refused to apologize.

Greene then challenged AOC to a debate, however, she later told AOC that she doesn’t have “enough intelligence” to get into a verbal melee with her.

The committee then voted to let Greene finish her original statement before Jasmine Crockett jumped in, asking for clarity on what was and wasn’t allowed on the committee floor. She said,

“I’m just curious, just to better understand your ruling. If someone on this committee then starts talking about somebody’s bleach blonde, bad built, butch body, that would not be engaging in personalities, correct?”

She continued defending her remark after her fellow committee members reacted, one telling her to “calm down.”

Crockett has since responded to the controversial moment. She wrote via X (formerly Twitter) shortly after,

“So MTG wanted to talk about my appearance in COMMITTEE?! It’s against the rules to do… She refused to apologize! The chairman ruled that it was ok… AND I asked for clarification about what qualifies as “engaging in personalities” & basically wanted to know if I could talk shit about her appearance as… well… y’all know what she looks like, right? PEOPLE IN GLASS HOUSES! This is what happens when mentally deficient people who can’t read and follow rules or just don’t give a damn… somehow end up in CONGRESS!”

Greene also shared her perspective, writing in part,

“Some people are upset about the scene from Oversight Committee last night, well I’m upset and disgusted pretty much everyday at the Democrat controlled DOJ, federal government, and Congress in general. The Democrat DOJ is weaponized against us. They want to put Pres Trump in jail the rest of his life which is a death sentence!”
