Ellen DeGeneres Announces Dates For ‘Final’ Stand-Up Comedy Tour

It’s the end of an era!

Comedian/former television host Ellen DeGeneres officially dropped dates this morning (May 29) for her “final stand-up tour.” The 27-show event, titled Ellen’s Last Stand… Up, is scheduled to kick off on June 19 in San Diego and end on August 17 in Minneapolis. According to a press release shared with PEOPLE, this will be the“last opportunity” to witness Ellen DeGeneres’ “final curtain call.” Speaking on her last stand-up go-around, the Open House actress wrote in an Instagram caption,

“Here it is! These are the cities and dates for my final stand-up tour. Pre-sale starts tomorrow May 30th at 10am local time with code CHICKEN. Get your tickets at ellenshop.com/tour”

Ellen DeGeneres’ upcoming Netflix special will be taped during the last two days of the tour. Earlier this month she hinted at what fans can expect her to cover should they buy a ticket and said,

“To answer the questions everyone is asking me — Yes, I’m going to talk about it. Yes this is my last special. Yes, Portia [de Rossi] really is that pretty in real life.”

The comic seems to be referring to the scandal that played a huge hand in her talk show — The Ellen DeGeneres Show — coming to an end. The series premiered in September 2003 and ran for 19 seasons before ending in May 2022. In 2018, rumors started to surface that despite her happy attitude on screen, DeGeneres wasn’t the kindest to her staff behind the scenes. However, it wasn’t until July 2020, when BuzzFeed News ran articles containing allegations from former employees, that many began viewing DeGeneres differently.

She was accused of looking the other way while her producers created and upheld a toxic workplace allegedly filled with harassment, racism, and microaggressions. WarnerMedia opened an investigation and DeGeneres issued an apology for the alleged environment of her series, claiming she was “disappointed to learn” the safe space she aimed to create didn’t come to fruition.

Following the investigation, three executives were fired. On May 12, 2021, it was announced the show would end with season 19.
