The duo also had cameos in Ariana Grande’s video, making it clear they co-sign her rendition of the classic.
The release is nostalgic as it comes nearly 26 years to the date after Brandy and Monica’s single topped the coveted Billboard Hot 100 list. Monica celebrated the milestone on her Instagram Story, and Brandy reposted it.

Ariana Grande also showed appreciation and replied to an Instagram Story of Monica sending love to the “thank u, next,” singer.
Ariana wrote in her repost,
“i love you!!!!!!!!! so much (more). you have no idea what this means to me. i am still convinced that im dreaming it all.”

As of publication, Ariana’s video was published two hours ago and has amassed nearly 800,000 views.
Brandy and Monica’s “The Boy Is Mine” was released in 1999 and garnered them a Grammy award for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals.
