Rihanna Reveals She’s ‘Starting Over’ On Long-Awaited ‘R9’ Album: ‘I’m Rediscovering Things’
Pop star Rihanna gave the best update about her highly anticipated next studio album.
The songstress recently revealed that she’s finally ready to get back in the booth to finish the project. However, she admitted that she’s “starting over” and “rediscovering” her passion for music.

Rihanna made the remarks during a red carpet interview ahead of her Rihanna x Fenty Hair launch party at Nya Studios in Los Angeles, California on Monday (June 10th), stating:
“Music for me is a new discovery, I’m rediscovering things…I have been working on the album for so long that I kinda put all that stuff aside, and now I’m prepared to go back in the studio.”

Continuing, the 36-year-old further emphasized to eager fans that she’s just now preparing to “start” the process, and asked them to give her some time, adding:
“Starting over, but, I don’t want to neglect the songs that I have, so I actually want to go back and listen to stuff with new ears with my new perspective and see what applies and what I’m still in love with.”
“This is probably the longest I’ve ever taken to create something. No, I lied, that’s R9.”

Amid running her billion dollar Fenty beauty Empire, Rihanna fans have not stopped questioning the 9x Grammy Award winner about when they can expect new music. As you may know, Rihanna released her last full-length project Anti back in 2016. Since, the musician has mostly only appeared on features, though she did release two singles for the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack in 2022.
Additionally, Rihanna broke records performing at the Super Bowl halftime show in 2023, where she famously revealed her pregnancy with son Riot, now 10-months-old. She and boyfriend A$AP Rocky welcomed their first child, RZA, 2, in May 2022.

At this time it’s unclear exactly when fans will be getting a completed Rihanna album, but many can rest assured knowing the project is in the works.
