Birdman Slammed After Seemingly Questioning Inmates’ Requests For Books During Prison Visit: ‘He Hates Literacy’
Ask and you shall receive…well, unless you’re asking Birdman for books.
The internet is in shambles right now thanks to a video of Birdman, born Bryan Williams, appearing to question why prison inmates asked him to help them get books inside the penitentiary. It’s unclear when exactly the footage was taken but it’s said that it comes from Birdman’s recent visit to a New Orleans prison. The recording shows the back of the “Black Ball” rapper’s head as he faces several men in orange jumpsuits.

During the chat with the inmates, Birdman, 55, asks,
“How can I help ya’ll?”
After one of the jailed men lists off programs, “workshops,” and efforts he’d love to see made available to those serving time in the facility, Birdman asks again,
“How can I help ya’ll…I got enough power to make that happen.”
The unnamed man then replies,
“We need inside help as far as literature, for these guys to have books to read.”
Birdman interjects with,
“So you think reading books is go [help], and no disrespect to reading books.”
The clip ends there, so the celeb’s full statement is unclear. However, what was recorded was enough to land him in the hot seat.

One person on X wrote,
“One thing about Birdman is he hates literacy. Can’t get a n*gg& to sign a sh*t contract if he like reading.”

Another said,
“Birdman always struck me as illiterate anyway so this isn’t surprising lol”
