Update: Justin Timberlake Feels ‘Ashamed’ Following DWI Arrest, But ‘Does Not Believe’ He Needs Help w/ His Drinking, Source Says

Update#3: (June 20, 2024): Justin Timberlake is allegedly “ashamed” of the reason he’s been making headlines lately.

As we covered, earlier this week the 43-year-old was arrested and charged with one count of driving while intoxicated and two citations: one for running a stop sign and one for failure to keep in lane. JT has remained quiet about the incident. However, his attorney did claim in a released statement,

“[We] look forward to vigorously defending Mr. Timberlake against these allegations. He will have a lot to say at the appropriate time.”

Despite his silence, an insider shared with another publication that the Grammy Award winner is “feeling remorseful, ashamed, and humiliated.” According to the source, he also feels “accountable.” They continued, noting JT “does not believe he needs help when it comes to alcohol,” but sees the incident as a “major lapse of judgment.”

They added,

“He does his best to set a positive example for himself, [Jessica Biel], his family and the public, and will continue to try to learn and grow. He is taking this seriously and recognizes how it can impact his family dynamic as a husband and father, and his fans too.”

Update#2: (June 19, 2024): There are three sides to every story and Justin Timberlake is gearing up to tell his version of what happened the morning he was arrested.

As reported, early Tuesday morning (June 18) JT was arrested and charged with one count of driving while intoxicated and two citations, one for running a stop sign and one for failure to keep in lane. According to the arrest report,

“[Justin Timberlake] was operating said vehicle in an intoxicated condition in that his eyes were bloodshot and glassy, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath, he was unable to divide attention, he had slowed speech, he was unsteady afoot, and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests.”

However, JT’s attorney has shared with TMZ that he’s preparing to fight the allegations.

“[We] look forward to vigorously defending Mr. Timberlake against these allegations. He will have a lot to say at the appropriate time.”

The legal professional added,

“He is currently awaiting full discovery from the DA’s office.”

Update#1: (June 18, 2024): Justin Timberlake’s mug shot has officially hit the streets!

As we covered, the “Cry Me A River” artist was arrested early this morning (Tuesday, June 18) in Sag Harbor, New York for driving while intoxicated.

According to his arrest report, Justin Timberlake told police who pulled him over,

“I had one martini and I followed my friends home.”

However, the report also notes that Timberlake’s,

“eyes were bloodshot and glassy, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath, he was unable to divide attention, he had slowed speech, he was unsteady afoot, and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests.”

He was stopped after police noticed his 2025 BMW drive through a stop sign, and “fail to keep on the right side of the roadway.” Once in police custody, it’s reported that Timberlake refused a chemical test. He was charged with one count of driving while intoxicated and two citations, one for running a stop sign and one for failure to keep in lane. Timberlake is scheduled to be back in court on July 26.
