Ex-MMA Fighter Lumumba Sayers Arrested For Allegedly Killing Man In Suspected Retaliation For Son’s Death
Former MMA Fighter Lumumba Sayers Sr. is currently behind bars on a $1 million bond for alleged murder.
According to reports, the 46-year-old is accused of fatally shooting 28-year-old Malcolm Watson over the weekend at a child’s party in Commerce, Colorado. The unfortunate incident was reportedly a revenge plot for the death of Lumumba Sayers Sr.’s son, Lumumba Sayers Jr.
On Aug. 19, 2023, the 23-year-old was one of two people gunned down in a Colorado neighborhood. However, the accused gunman is not the man Lumumba Sayers Sr. (allegedly) recently killed. A man named Tyrell Braxton, 24, was arrested and charged in Sayers Jr.’s murder. The case was later dismissed, but Braxton is still facing a federal charge of illegal possession of ammunition.
Sayers Sr. allegedly believed that Braxton was close with the now-deceased Watson.

Seemingly wanting to take justice into his own hands, Sayers Sr. reportedly entered the pool party Watson was hosting for his 5-year-old son and shot him in the head at close range.
The affidavit said of the “possible motive,”
“Witnesses had stated the (shooter’s son) had been murdered about a year ago by a friend of the deceased (…) and this murder was probably in retaliation or revenge.”
Watson’s sister spoke with a local news station and shared,
“How is it a revenge killing if my brother isn’t the one who had anything to do with it?
Sayers Sr. was charged with first-degree murder and felony menacing. He’s being held at Adams County jail.
