Usher kicked off his highly anticipated tour Tuesday night (August 20th) at the Capital One arena in Washington D.C. The start of the concert series comes after the 45-year-old announced he was postponing several dates of the tour, originally set to begin in Atlanta earlier this month.
In a statement posted to Instagram, Usher revealed that he suffered an injury to his neck, leaving him with no choice but to reschedule the dates. It appears he has since made a full recovery, however, as videos circulating of his debut shows have been flooding the internet.
The R&B superstar took audience members on a journey throughout his decades-long career, flashing back to a computer-generated 14-year-old version of himself dancing to his first single “Call Me Mack” from 1993, and leading to him performing some of the biggest hits of his career such as “Yeah” and “Burn.”
Along with his own extensive catalog, Usher also brought out a few special guests on the second night in D.C., including his fellow R&B artist Raheem DeVaughn, Experience Unlimited frontman Sugar Bear, as well as rap star Wale, the latter who he’s featured on the hit single “Matrimony” with.
Reacting to videos of the shows, some commenters celebrated Usher for an amazing experience and thanked the music star for putting on a great show. Others took the moment to express their excitement for later stops on his ongoing tour.

Usher is next headed to Baltimore for a set of shows beginning tomorrow night (Friday, August 23rd) at the CFG Bank arena.
