Ice Cube Addresses Backlash Over Resurfaced Video Warning Black Voters To Be Skeptical: ‘I’m Not In Bed With None Of These Clowns’

An old clip of Ice Cube sharing his views on voting has sparked criticism online.

In a video shared by the rapper/actor in September 2020, ahead of the Presidential election that year, Ice Cube gave his take on the process of being able to vote as a Black American. Now, the 55-year-old is a talked about topic online after the video resurfaced ahead of the 2024 election.

In the controversial 2020 video, Ice Cube warned the Black community to be cautious about voting without getting anything in return economically. He said,

“Be skeptical of anybody telling you to vote and not telling you to ask for anything or to tell you to just vote and not to get anything for you vote. That’s not how it works. That’s not the process. You don’t vote just to vote. You vote because you’re getting something, or your community is getting something.” 

Ice Cube continued,

“A lot of people been in place for a long time and we ain’t got sh*t. That sh*t gone end… we gonna get what we supposed to get, period. And anybody asking you not to ask, I wouldn’t listen to them cause that’s the process. Every community asks for what they want.”

Amid the resurfaced footage making its rounds online, Ice Cube faced backlash over his political stance. One user wrote,

“@icecube I truly will never listen to any idiot like yourself who is in bed with steve bannon. you want to vote for trump? go right ahead *sswhole.”

However, Ice Cube swiftly responded to the user and said,

“I’m not in bed with none of these clowns. So go get another booster shot and stfu….”

Despite Ice Cube shutting down the growing theories surrounding his political pov, social media users didn’t hold back their thoughts on his remarks.
