Kate Gosselin ‘Makes No Apologies’ For Allegedly Keeping Estranged Son Collin Tied Up & Locked In The Basement For Days At A Time

Reality TV mom Kate Gosselin reportedly has no remorse for the alleged way she treated her now estranged son Collin.

According to In Touch, a source close to the family said the TLC star will not apologize for her actions despite her son claiming she was physically abusive to him as a child.

Tensions between Kate Gosselin, 49, and her 20-year-old estranged son Collin were re-sparked after the latter detailed the alleged abuse he faced under his mother’s care. In an interview published earlier this month, Collin claimed that his mom would often tie up his hands and feet and leave him locked in the basement for days at a time, all before he turned 10-years-old. He stated:

“[It was] a very very emotionally abusive relationship…when my mother would put be in that room, multiple times she had zip tied my hands and feet together and bolt locked the door, turn the lights off, and had cameras there just watching me.”

He added:

“Often times she…kept me locked in there for most or all of the day, for multiple days.”

Lawyers for Kate Gosselin, who got her rise to fame thanks to her families reality show Jon & Kate Plus 8, has since denied the claims, writing in response to Collin’s interview:

“The facts belie the truth. Whatever took place, the ones that are truthful are the ones that took place… She has no comment because it’s not going to change the past. And I don’t believe she intentionally harmed any of her children in any way, shape or form.”

The lawyer furthered that if Kate was truly suspected of abusing her children, they surely would not have remained in the home given her public celebrity status through the show, continuing:

“authorities would have taken the time and removed him from the family and put him in special services and would have probably had [Kate] charged with abuse,”

The report additionally notes that a source close to Kate said she doesn’t regret anything about the way she raised her son, stating:

“Kate makes no apologies for her treatment of Collin…Of course, when Collin tells it, it sounds like a horror story.”

While it doesn’t appear that Kate has responded to her son’s latest allegations personally, this isn’t the first time Collin has come forward with stories of abuse against his mom. Back in July of last year, Kate publicly addressed the accusations after Collin criticized her parenting and accused her of wrongfully committing him to a mental institution as a child. Claiming that her son suffered from clinically diagnosed mental illnesses, Kate wrote:

“My son Collin, whom I love with all my heart, has received multiple psychiatric diagnosis over the years. For the safety of myself, his brothers and sisters and for his own well-being, he was placed in a facility,”

She added:

“All measures that were taken in our home were at the explicit recommendation of his pediatric psychiatrist and/or his team of specialists and were put into place to safeguard every member of our family, our friends as well as our family pets. Unfortunately, I believe Collin remains a very troubled young man who continues to need a lot of help. His brothers and sisters and I have not been directly involved in his life due to his history of unpredictable behavior and violent tendencies towards us.”

Kate and Jon Gosselin divorced – in large part due to their disagreements over Collin’s treatment – back in 2009, and Jon has maintained a relationship with Collin and his daughter Hannah after fighting to regain custody of his son.
