Broadway Star Ken Page Dies At 70, Remembered For Iconic Roles In ‘Cats,’ ‘The Wiz’ & ‘Ain’t Misbehavin’’
Ken Page, a legendary Broadway star known for his unforgettable roles in Cats, The Wiz, and Ain’t Misbehavin’, has passed away at the age of 70.
Friend and producer Dorian Hannaway announced the news on Facebook, writing,
“Ken Page has passed onto the next show. My heart is broken.”
Ken Page was born on Jan. 20, 1954, in St. Louis and had a remarkable Broadway debut as the Lion in The Wiz in 1975. He went on to perform as Nicely-Nicely Johnson in the 1976 revival of Guys and Dolls and starred in the original productions of both Ain’t Misbehavin’ and Cats, where he played Old Deuteronomy. His career also included extensive work in film, such as providing voices for King Gator in All Dogs Go to Heaven and Oogie Boogie in The Nightmare Before Christmas.
