Demi Lovato Is Working On ‘Body Acceptance’ After Spending 5 Years Recovering From Bulimia
Pop star Demi Lovato is getting candid about her recovery from bulimia.
The 32-year-old opened up about her health journey during a recent interview on You actor Penn Badgley’s podcast Podcrushed, stating:
“I’ve been in recovery from bulimia for about 5, going on six years now…I’m trying to learn body acceptance rather than body positivity. Cause body positivity feels like I can’t even reach that yet.”

The “Confident” songstress then shared that she works with a nutritionist and therapist who specializes in eating disorders, noting that the professionals provide her with a wealth of “insight” about the topic.
In case you’re unfamiliar, Demi Lovato has been vulnerable when discussing her struggles with addiction and eating disorders in the past and has even spoken candidly about overdosing back in July 2018 and nearly losing her life.
During the interview, she went on to discuss how that terrifying experience has ultimately helped her come to appreciate her body more, stating:
“The main thing that I’m working on is just body acceptance…like, very basic elementary affirmations but like…’This body saved my life and fought for my life…when I overdosed…This body is a miracle.'”
Demi Lovato added:
“And that’s what I have to focus on because loving my body and having full acceptance over it feels too far away right now.”
