Diddy’s Attorneys File Appeal For His Release From Jail Before His Trial + Deny Witness Tampering Accusations
Diddy’s attorneys are hard at work.
His legal team filed its appeal for him to get released from jail before his trial begins. This is Diddy’s defense team’s third attempt since he was arrested last month.
He’s in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center for sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution charges.
When his attempt for release on bail was denied for the second time, the judge cited allegations that Diddy was dangerous and had been allegedly witness tampering.
In his lawyers’ appeal filed on Tuesday (October 8), they denied the claims, stating in court docs,
“Mr. Combs is presumed innocent. He traveled to New York to surrender because he knew he was going to be indicted. He took extraordinary steps to demonstrate that he intended to face and contest the charges, not flee. He presented a bail package that would plainly stop him from posing a danger to anyone or contacting any witnesses.”
They added that while he is “imperfect,” he is not “a criminal,” claiming that there is no evidence of witness tampering.
“The witness contacts the government cited were minimally relevant or entirely innocuous.”
A decision has not been made by a judge yet.
