Lil Rel Howery Recalls Tearful Conversation w/ Cory Hardriet Amid His Divorce From Tia Mowry: ‘I Knew You Were Going Through Some Things’
Comedian Lil Rel Howery is opening up about his friendship with Cory Hardrict.
During a panel at the 7th Annual Black Love Summit on Oct. 12, the 44-year-old reflected on an emotional conversation he shared with the “Divorce In The Black” star in the midst of going through his divorce from then-wife Tia Mowry after 14 years of marriage.

Speaking to Hardrict, 44, who was also featured on the panel, Howery recalled:
“I knew you were going through some things…I just wanted to reach out to another dad, another brother, and we just talked. We met at one of the little sports bars I like to go to. We just sat there, and we just talked.”
Howery went on to state that one of his favorite qualities about Hardrict is how much he loves his two children, son Cree, 13, and daughter, Cairo, 6, who he shares with Mowry, adding:
“No matter what us adults are going through, we’ve got to consider how they’re seeing it. I just thought it was beautiful, just with Black men [talking about their children],”
He continued:
“We’re in a sports bar having an emotional conversation. Trying to watch the Lakers, tears coming out of [our eyes]. We are dads.”

Hardrict co-signed the moment, adding:
“It was just me and you. If somebody walked by that window, they’d [be like], ‘What’s going on in here?’ [But it was] just us.”
If you recall, Mowry, 46, announced that she and Hardrict were going their separate ways in an Instagram post back in October 2023. The two finalized their divorce about six months later.
