Prince Allegedly Agreed To Guest Star On ‘New Girl’ Because Of His Crush On Actress Hannah Simone
“New Girl” actress Hannah Simone says Prince’s crush on her is the reason the show landed a guest appearance from the pop icon back in 2014.
During a recent episode of her podcast “The Mess Around,” Simone, 44, along with the show’s costume designer Debra McGuire recalled the “Purple Rain” singer coming on set and requesting personal time with Simone via a game of ping-pong.

While discussing the iconic moment, McGuire teased that Prince only agreed to the appearance:
“Because he had a crush on our little Hannah.”
With Simone adding:
“He tried for a very long time to find a way to be in the same room together.”
Noting that she wasn’t interested in the Grammy Award winner “in that way,” Simone continued:
“Love a Prince song. Happy to put on a Prince record. I was not interested in anything else. So, I was never in the same room with Prince. And then yeah, he was like a teenage boy who showed up at my job, which was really funny.”

Prince
Simone further revealed that the end credit scene where she plays ping-pong with Prince was his idea, stating:
“Apparently with people that he really likes to have that quality time with, he liked to play ping-pong…It was like five in the morning, they had to write in the tag — ’cause how were they going to incorporate ping-pong into the show? And they had to write this tag where Prince would get his request, which was: He wanted to play ping-pong with me.”
She also shared that producers waited to film that scene until after all the other scenes were shot out of fear that Prince would leave after getting to play the game with her.
