Keke Palmer Recalls Time Ryan Murphy ‘Ripped’ Into Her Over ‘Scream Queens’ Scheduling Conflict: ‘It Was Like I Was in the Dean’s Office’
Keke Palmer is recalling a time Ryan Murphy chewed her out over a scheduling conflict.
The incident took place when Keke played Zayday Williams for the Ryan Murphy comedy slasher TV series, “Scream Queens.” The Los Angeles Times reports that in Keke’s upcoming memoir “Master of Me: The Secret to Controlling Your Narrative,” the 31-year-old actress shares a time:
“she’d been given her shooting schedule and arranged to fulfill another business obligation on a day off. But when that day rolled around, production told her that she was actually needed on set. She decided to keep her prior obligation, which resulted in an angry phone call with Murphy in which he ‘ripped’ into her and told her she was unprofessional.”

Speaking on what reportedly went down, Keke said to the publication,
“It was kind of like I was in the dean’s office. He was like, ‘I’ve never seen you behave like this. I can’t believe that you, out of all people, would do something like this.’”
According to Keke, she did say sorry to Murphy but that didn’t help smooth things over. A few days after the blow-up and Keke’s apology, a co-star claimed that the TV writer and producer still felt some type of way. Keke noted,
“I said, ‘Ryan talked to me and I guess he’s cool, it’s fine,’ and she was like, ‘It’s bad,’ trying to make me scared or something, which was a little irritating.”

Keke added that she initially had hopes that joining the cast would set her up to be one of Murphy’s go-to actors, such as her co-stars Emma Roberts, Niecy Nash and Billie Lourd, but that went out the window after Murphy “ripped” into her.
In her memoir, she reportedly writes,
“I’m still not sure Ryan cared, or got it, and that’s okay because he was just centering his business, which isn’t a problem to me. But what I do know is even if he didn’t care, and even if I never work with him again, he knows that I, too, see myself as a business.”
