Vanessa Williams’ Mother Helen Passes Away At 85 [CONDOLENCES]
Vanessa Williams has announced the passing of her mother, Helen Williams.
Vanessa Williams shared on Instagram:
“On December 28th, the world lost a powerhouse, dynamo, and force of nature packed into a 5ft frame. Our mom, Helen Williams, aka Gaga to many, took her final bow in London 20 days after celebrating her 85th birthday surrounded by family and friends.”

Helen Williams was in London for the opening night of “The Devil Wears Prada musical,” where Vanessa Williams stars as Miranda Priestly. During the trip, her health declined, and according to reports, she passed away from complications of acute liver failure.
A trailblazer in her own right, Helen became the youngest Black student at SUNY Fredonia at age 16, taught music for over 40 years, and coauthored the memoir “You Have No Idea” with Vanessa. She leaves behind her children, Vanessa and Chris Williams, and four grandchildren.
