Amazon Becomes The Latest Company To Scale Back DEI Initiatives
Amazon announced it is scaling back certain diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs as part of a broader review of initiatives.
In an internal memo, VP Candi Castleberry stated the company aims to prioritize programs with proven outcomes while fostering a more inclusive culture. Although Amazon did not specify which programs are ending, it has historically supported employee resource groups and pledged to increase Black representation in leadership roles.
This move aligns with similar DEI retreats by companies like Meta amid growing legal and public scrutiny following the Supreme Court’s ruling against affirmative action in 2023.
