Baseball Hall Of Famer Mariano Rivera & His Wife Accused Of Covering Up Child S*x Abuse At Church Summer Program
Baseball Hall of Famer Mariano Rivera and his wife Clara are accused of covering up child sex abuse linked to their Refuge of Hope Church and a summer program. A lawsuit filed on Jan. 16 alleges the couple ignored and silenced a young victim, “Jane Doe,” who was allegedly abused by an older female minor, “MG,” during a 2018 internship at Ignite Life Center, affiliated with their church.
The complaint states, “Rather than take sufficient action to end the sexual abuse of Jane Doe, the Riveras each separately isolated and intimidated [her] to remain silent.” Additional abuse allegedly occurred at the Riveras’ home and involved Ruben Tavarez Jr., son of a church pastor, in 2021.
The Riveras are accused of promoting the program as safe despite knowing otherwise. Jane Doe seeks a jury trial.
