Justice Department Reportedly Discussing Dropping Corruption Case Against Eric Adams
Senior Justice Department officials under President Donald Trump have reportedly discussed the possibility of dropping the corruption case against New York City Mayor Eric Adams, according to five sources who spoke with the New York Times.
These talks, which also involved Eric Adams’ defense team, have occurred since Donald Trump took office. Eric Adams’ lawyer, Alex Spiro—who also represents Elon Musk and Jay-Z —has been at the forefront of the legal defense.
Adams, indicted in September on bribery, fraud, and illegal foreign campaign contribution charges, has pleaded not guilty and claims the charges are politically motivated, citing his criticism of the Joe Biden administration. In recent months, Adams has aligned with Donald Trump, meeting with him near Mar-a-Lago and attending the inauguration. Trump, who has suggested Adams has been “pretty unfairly” treated, has indicated he may consider a pardon.
The U.S. Attorney’s office in Manhattan, handling the case, declined to comment.
