Gayle King Repeats Gay Slur On Television
Gayle King is facing online backlash after using a gay slur on live TV while quoting a joke.
During an interview with comedian Matteo Lane on “CBS Mornings,” Gayle King referenced a line from his stand-up routine. She said,
“Can we talk about the stand-up? Can I just say one joke? I hope I don’t get in trouble. You do a riff about white women who approached you, and they said something about cooking, and you said, ‘What in the f****try are you talking about?’”
Matteo Lane laughed and expressed his approval, while her cohosts appeared uncomfortable.
Despite some online criticism for the use of the slur, neither Matteo Lane nor Gayle King seemed bothered, and King has not issued an apology.
The moment, while lighthearted on the show, sparked debate, with some viewers expressing their disapproval. King has yet to comment publicly.
