Walmart & Target Reportedly Warn Trump His Tariffs Could Lead To Empty Shelves
The shelves might be looking empty if Trump doesn’t ease up.
According to CBS News, the CEOs of Walmart and Target privately warned Trump that his tariffs could disrupt supply chains and cause shortages in the coming weeks.
Both companies declined to comment on what was said behind closed doors but issued statements afterward. Walmart said, “We had a productive meeting with President Trump and his team and appreciated the opportunity to share our insights.”
Target added they remain “committed to delivering value for American consumers.”
This comes as other retailers announce price hikes following Trump’s decision to impose 145% tariffs on Chinese goods and 10% on most other imports. He told reporters he expects those tariffs to “come down substantially, but it won’t be zero.”
