Uber Addresses Travel Concerns Ahead Of Expected NJ Transit Strike
Heads up for those living in New Jersey.
——————————
NJ Transit could see its first rail strike in decades as early as May 16, following failed contract negotiations between the agency and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLE&T).
——————————
The union has been pushing for wage increases, citing inflation and stagnant pay. With no agreement reached and a final cooling-off period expiring, the strike could officially begin at 12:01 a.m. on Friday.

On the eve of the potential shutdown, NJ Transit is urging commuters to work from home and avoid non-essential travel. The agency also issued a critical service advisory noting that all rail service would be suspended if the strike begins.

Now, Uber is stepping in to prepare riders for what’s expected to be a chaotic time, especially with large-scale events like Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter tour expected to hit MetLife Stadium on the 22nd. The rideshare company said in a statement:
——————————
“Due to the potential NJ Transit strike, which could take effect as early as Friday, we are expecting significantly higher demand for Uber rides across New Jersey, especially during large-scale events that will take place at MetLife Stadium. We are doing everything we can to make sure rides are available during this time, but your Uber experience may be impacted.”

Translation? Higher prices and longer wait times could be in store for anyone relying on Uber to get around the state.
