JoJo Siwa Opens Up About Her Fluid Sexuality Amid Criticism Over Relationship w/ British Reality Star Chris Hughes: ‘I Just Like Humans’

JoJo Siwa is speaking out about the criticism she’s faced after confirming her relationship with new boyfriend Chris Hughes.

The 22-year-old singer opened up in a recent Billboard interview, acknowledging that her love affair with the British TV star has sparked backlash, particularly from those questioning her identity after she came out as a lesbian in 2021.

“It’s really hard because people tear it apart,” JoJo said, addressing the online reaction to her romance with Chris, 32.

“There’s somebody who’s identified as one sexuality and then maybe had this realization within themselves,” she added, explaining that some may feel they can’t “change or grow.”

JoJo also shared that she’s no longer focused on fitting into labels:

“I’ve dated beautiful women, I’ve dated beautiful non-binary people, I have dated men… but I realize that’s just who I am. I realize, for myself, that I just like humans.”

Her comments come shortly after Chris shared an intimate photo of the two, prompting renewed conversation about JoJo’s sexuality. JoJo and Chris met on Celebrity Big Brother U.K.

Despite the criticism, JoJo said she’s “absolutely head over heels,” and Chris feels the same.
