Diddy’s Motion For A Mistrial Denied As Judge Rejects Claims Of Prosecutor Misconduct

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ recent attempt to declare a mistrial in his federal sex trafficking case has officially been denied.

Reports state that a judge rejected the motion earlier today (June 10), dismissing claims of prosecutorial misconduct made by Diddy’s legal team.

Diddy’s attorneys reportedly filed the motion following testimony from Casandra “Cassie” Ventura’s friend, Bryana Bongolan, who claimed Diddy caused serious injuries when he allegedly hung her over a 17th-floor balcony in 2016. During her own testimony, Cassie claimed to have witnessed the scary ordeal.

However, Diddy’s legal team argued that Bryana’s testimony couldn’t be trusted as she admitted to taking a significant amount of drugs around the time in question, a point the judge somewhat agreed with. They also pointed to text messages between Cassie and Kristina “KK” Khorram, Diddy’s former chief of staff, where Cassie allegedly said she only heard about the incident, not witnessed it.

Diddy’s lawyers argued that prosecutors knew or should have known the testimony was (allegedly) false and accused them of misconduct in an attempt to get the case dismissed. But the judge wasn’t convinced. According to reports, the judge ruled that the defense’s arguments were “not fodder for a mistrial,” but rather examples of “the adversarial process at work.”

After four weeks of proceedings, Diddy’s trial will continue. If convicted on all charges, he faces the possibility of life in prison.
