UPDATE: Wendy Williams Shuts Down Ex-Husband Kevin Hunter’s $250 Million Guardianship Lawsuit, Calls It A ‘Money Grab’ & Denies Any Involvement
Update: Wendy Williams is distancing herself from a new federal lawsuit filed by her ex-husband Kevin Hunter, despite documents showing he filed it on her behalf.
“I have NOTHING to do with his lawsuit,” Wendy told TMZ, adding that it “feels like a money grab.”
Filed in New York, the suit demands her release from the guardianship of Sabrina Morrissey, calling it a “weapon” rather than protection. Kevin claims Wendy’s guardian is “abusing, neglecting and defrauding” her and keeping her in “fraudulent bondage,” despite a March 2025 competency evaluation allegedly showing she was “alert and oriented.”
Kevin further accuses staff at Wendy’s assisted living facility, the Coterie, of secretly photographing her in private and selling the images. He also claims Wendy was coerced into the 2022 guardianship after Wells Fargo froze her accounts due to alleged suspicious activity.
The lawsuit seeks $250 million in damages and Morrissey’s removal.
Original Story: Kevin Hunter is taking legal action in hopes of ending Wendy Williams’ guardianship.
According to court documents, Wendy’s ex filed a lawsuit in New York federal court, accusing her court-appointed guardian and others of abusing their power. The lawsuit describes the guardianship as “punishment—pure and simple” and claims Wendy is being “confined against her will” in an assisted living facility with “restricted access” to her phone, friends, and family.

Hunter alleges that Williams, who was diagnosed with Graves’ disease and frontal temporal dementia, “passed a competency evaluation in or around March 2025” and should be allowed to manage her own affairs. The filing claims she’s been subjected to overmedication, financial mismanagement, and “fraudulent bondage” by those in charge of her care.
The lawsuit names her guardian Sabrina Morrissey, financial advisor Lori Schiller, ex-manager Bernie Young, Wells Fargo Bank, and several others.
The suit is seeking a jury trial and $250 million in damages for what it describes as lost earnings, property, personal belongings, and reputational harm.
