Oprah Shares How Her Mindset & Lifestyle Have Changed Since Starting Weight-Loss Medication: I Hardly Recognize The Woman I’ve Become’
#OprahWinfrey, approaching her 72nd birthday, says adopting GLP-1 weight-loss medication has fundamentally changed how she lives and how she thinks about her health. After years of battling weight fluctuations and public scrutiny, Oprah told PEOPLE that she now feels “more alive and more vibrant than I’ve ever been,” and describes a shift in mindset about food and her body that has helped her embrace fitness, give up alcohol and find joy in things like exercise and fashion again.
In her new book Enough: Your Health, Your Weight and What It’s Like to Be Free, co-written with Dr. Ania M. Jastreboff, #Oprah reframes obesity as a medical condition instead of a personal failure. She recalls how obsessing over calories once dominated her life, saying, “I would have been thinking, ‘How many calories in that croissant?’” but now she can eat without guilt. The medication has helped quiet that inner “food noise,” allowing her to feel satisfied and strong, a transformation that has also made her more open, confident and healthier overall. “I’m not constantly punishing myself,” she says. “I hardly recognize the woman I’ve become. But she’s a happy woman.”
Oprah’s latest book will be out on Jan. 13, but it’s now available for preorder. What are your thoughts on weight-loss medication?
