Brandy & Monica Speak On Rebuilding Their Relationship After Years-Long Feud Ahead Of Joint Tour: ‘We Didn’t Really Know Each Other’
Brandy and Monica are getting candid about the reconciliation that had to happen before they could seriously work together again.
On the heels of announcing their joint tour, which theJasmineBrand exclusively broke back in May, the two R&B icons appeared on CBS Mornings, where they discussed how the timing finally felt right to go on the road together.

Brandy shared that the idea of a tour based on their 1998 collaborative hit “The Boy Is Mine”, which spent 27 weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart, had been floated around ever since the song’s release.
Monica chimed in, opening up about the years-long feud that followed the song’s rise, explaining that there was “a lot of confusion” and several people involved who fueled animosity between them. She said the healing process began after their appearance on the music series Verzuz, ultimately bringing them to a place where they could productively collaborate.
Monica shared:
“We created the communication and relationship to do [this]. It’s a musical marriage. When you start to go on a tour, especially of this caliber, we have to talk about everything.”
Speaking specifically to their prior issues, she continued:
“We weren’t able to do what it is that we do now, which is really learn each other. We didn’t really know each other.”
Brandy added that now, the two “can’t stop talking.”
