French President Emmanuel Macron Files Defamation Lawsuit Against Candace Owens For Claiming His Wife Is Transgender
Emmanuel Macron and wife Brigitte Macron are taking legal action after being targeted by Candace Owens.
The couple filed a defamation lawsuit in Delaware Superior Court accusing Owens of spreading false and harmful claims, mainly that Brigitte is “in fact a man.”
The suit says Owens launched the conspiracy in March 2024 via an eight-part podcast titled Becoming Brigitte, accompanied by posts on X, despite “all credible evidence disproving her claim.”
“Rather than engage with President and Mrs. Macron’s attempts to set the record straight, Owens mocked them and used them as additional fodder for her frenzied fan base,” the complaint reads, noting that Brigitte gave birth to three children with her first husband.
The suit also accuses Owens of pushing other baseless conspiracies, including that the Macrons are blood relatives involved in incest and that Emmanuel was selected for office through a CIA mind-control program.

In a joint statement, the Macrons said:
“Ms. Owens’ campaign of defamation was plainly designed to harass and cause pain to us and our families and to garner attention and notoriety. We gave her every opportunity to back away from these claims, but she refused.”
Owens responded in a statement via a spokesperson: “
Candace Owens is not shutting up. This is a foreign government attacking the First Amendment rights of an American independent journalist.”
