Victoria Monét Says She Was ‘Hurt’ After Team Member Created A PowerPoint Seemingly Encouraging Her To Get An Abortion
Victoria Monét is getting candid about the disappointing way a member of her team reacted after learning she was pregnant.
The Grammy Award-winning singer, 36, visited Michelle Obama’s IMO Podcast and recalled feeling “hurt” when a team member, who she acknowledged had “good” intentions, created a PowerPoint presentation outlining how difficult motherhood would be if she decided to go through with the pregnancy.
Victoria said the “finale” of the presentation featured the question, “What’s the rush?” a moment she interpreted as the person subtly suggesting she terminate the pregnancy.

Ultimately, Victoria chose to have her baby and welcomed her daughter, Hazel Monét, with then-boyfriend John Gaines, in 2021. Since then, the two have shared plenty of adorable mommy-daughter moments. Victoria even recently wrapped a book tour for a children’s book she wrote and dedicated to Hazel.
What are your thoughts on Victoria’s story? Was the team member out of line or genuinely trying to help?
