Conor McGregor Loses Appeal As Irish Court Upholds Civil Sexual Assault Verdict
Conor McGregor has lost his appeal in a civil sexual assault case brought by Nikita Hand.

On July 31, 2025, Ireland’s Court of Appeal rejected all grounds of McGregor’s appeal and upheld the original jury verdict, which found him liable for sexually assaulting Hand in a Dublin hotel in December 2018.

The original ruling, delivered in November 2024, awarded Hand €248,000 in damages, which is approximately $285,800 USD. McGregor was also ordered to pay her legal costs, estimated at €1.3 million, or about $1.49 million USD.

McGregor has not been criminally charged or convicted in connection with this incident, as this was a civil case, not a criminal trial. The jury found him liable using the balance of probabilities, which is the standard of proof used in civil court.

The appeal judges concluded that the trial was fair and that the jury’s decision was legally sound. McGregor is now required to pay both the damages and legal costs in full.
