Chad Johnson Could Replace Shannon Sharpe On ‘First Take’ After ESPN Firing, Sources Say
ESPN’s recent decision to part ways with Shannon Sharpe could reportedly open the door for Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson.
Rumors have been swirling about how the network plans to fill the void left by Shannon’s departure, and some insiders have suggested bringing in his Nightcap podcast co-host as a potential replacement on First Take, the sports debate show hosted by veteran analyst Stephen A. Smith.

A source reportedly told Front Office Sports:
“Think about it: ESPN can try to retain Shannon’s audience—without Shannon,” adding, “If they slide Chad in there, it might appease them when the NFL season really starts.”
A former ESPN executive also weighed in, saying:
“It would be a smart idea.”
Chad’s already dipped his toe in the water, appearing on First Take on behalf of EA Sports to promote Madden 26 player ratings. While on set, he reportedly joked:
“I can get used to this for the next six months.”
Talks of a potential role for Chad follow Shannon’s recent confirmation that ESPN cut ties with him after he settled his $50 million $exual ass@ult lawsuit last month.
Neither ESPN, Chad, nor Shannon have commented on the rumors, and for now, the two continue co-hosting Nightcap together.
Could you see Chad stepping into a permanent role on First Take?
