Zookeeper Fatally Mauled By Leopard That Broke Free Ahead Of Private Tour
Tragic news out of Jerusalem.
A 36-year-old zookeeper, Uriel Nuri, was killed after being attacked by a leopard that escaped its enclosure at the Jerusalem Biblical Zoo, according to multiple reports.
The incident occurred while Nuri was preparing for a behind-the-scenes visitor tour. The attack took place in a staff-only area not accessible to the public. Authorities believe the leopard’s escape may have been caused by mechanical failure or human error.
Emergency responders were called, but Nuri was pronounced dead at the scene. The zoo was temporarily closed and later reopened after the leopard was safely returned to its enclosure. Zoo officials confirmed that the animal was not harmed or euthanized and remains under observation.
A full investigation is underway, and the zoo is reviewing its safety protocols.
