Laila Ali Hints At Responding To Claressa Shields’ Challenge To A Fight: ‘Nobody Calls Shots On Me’ + Says Website Blasting Claressa Is ‘So Accurate’
Laila Ali is doing things on her terms.
As boxer Claressa Shields continues to challenge Laila to a fight, Laila has yet to reveal if she’ll get in the ring with her.
However, in an Instagram video shared Wednesday night (Aug. 6), she seemingly addressed the chatter, suggesting that she’ll respond when she’s “good and ready.”
“To answer the question that I know many of you are poking around, waiting for me to give you an answer…yes… I’m going to answer your question…”
The boxing legend continued:
“…When I’m good and ready to do it. Because you know what? Nobody calls shots on me. I do things when and how and where I like to do them.”
Meanwhile, in the comments section of her post, Laila appeared to fire a more direct aim at Claressa, referencing a website that is putting Claressa on blast.
MMA world champion Cris Cyborg commented on Laila’s post, asking how Claressa called her old but challenged Laila to a fight.
Laila replied,
“Gurl, you already know what’s REALLY going on. It will all be very clear for the slow folks soon!! By the way, that website you shared, TheGwoatClaressa.com was so accurate!”
The website Laila name-dropped calls Claressa a “Ducking Champion” and asks if she’s “The Goofiest Woman of All Time,” using her moniker of GWOAT, which Claressa has said stands for “Greatest Woman of All Time.”
Her remarks come after theJasmineBRAND exclusively spoke to Claressa, who said she challenged Laila to a fight and was trying to get the money to make it happen.
