Today (Sept. 22), they finally addressed the controversial indefinite suspension of Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night talk show. As reported, Jimmy’s show was abruptly pulled off the air last week following criticism and pressure from Trump administration officials over his monologue on MAGA supporters and President Trump’s reactions to the de@th of right-wing speaker #CharlieKirk.
Many were shocked that The View initially stayed silent on the Jimmy Kimmel situation, fueling rumors that the hosts feared potential repercussions. However, #WhoopiGoldberg explained they were waiting for Jimmy to speak out first. She went on to add: “You can not like a show and it can go off the air. Someone can say something they shouldn’t and get taken off the air. But the government cannot apply pressure to force someone to be silenced.”
#AnaNavarro weighed in with: “I don’t understand how in this country, where the First Amendment was made to the Constitution to guarantee freedom of the press and freedom of speech, how the government itself is using its weight and power to bully and scare people into silence.”
Jimmy remains off the air as of Monday (Sept. 22).
