Indiana Pacers Rookie Kam Jones Arrested After Police Chase, Says He Was Running Late To Practice
The #NBA season hasn’t even officially started yet, and rookie Kameron “Kam” Jones is already making headlines.
The 23-year-old #IndianaPacers player is behind bars awaiting bail. He was arrested this morning (Oct. 20) in Indianapolis after a brief police chase on Interstate 65. The pursuit, which lasted approximately four miles and involved erratic weaving in and out of traffic, ended with his booking at the Marion County Adult Processing Center. Why was he speeding? Well, according to court documents, #KamJones said he was running late to practice. He also claimed he didn’t realize the officer was trying to pull him over.
He’s reportedly facing felony resisting-arrest and misdemeanor reckless-driving charges, which carry serious penalties, including up to 2½ years behind bars. Kam signed a four-year contract in early July with the Pacers; however, he has yet to make his NBA debut due to a back injury.
