Saying The N-Word: That’s Understandable…
He Has A Black Daughter
#RyanCoogler isn’t mad at MGK’s artistic process.
In a recent interview with Variety’s Marc Malkin during the Cinespia “Sinners” screening at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, Coogler weighed in on #MGK’s reason for turning down a chance to audition for his hit vampire film, Sinners.
As reported, the rapper revealed over the summer that he said no to an audition because the role required him to say the n-word, a term that’s not a part of his vocabulary. Reacting to his stance, Coogler said, “That’s understandable, I get it. I know he has a Black daughter and acting is acting, but you have to be comfortable with whatever it is.”
Coogler’s #Sinners, which stars Michael B. Jordan, premiered in April and grossed $367 million worldwide. The film is set to be re-released for #Halloween, Oct. 30–Nov. 5, in select IMAX theaters.
