[Update] Busta Rhymes Accused Of Using Defamation Countersuit To Silence Former Assistant In Ongoing $6 Million A$$ault Case
A new legal filing claims Busta Rhymes is attempting to intimidate and silence his former assistant amid their ongoing courtroom battle.
According to AllHipHop, Dashiel Gables is pushing back in federal court against the rapper’s defamation countersuit, calling it a “retaliatory Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation,” or SLAPP. Gables says the countersuit is meant to punish him for speaking out and for exercising his “constitutional right to petition for redress of grievances.” His legal team argues “Truth is an absolute defense to defamation under state and federal law.”
Gables worked for Busta Rhymes from July 2024 to January 2025. He claims the dispute stems from an incident on January 10, 2025, when Rhymes allegedly p*nched him during an argument inside the lobby of the rapper’s Brooklyn residence. Gables says he was later fired for reporting the incident and has suffered emotional distress and career damage.
Rhymes denies all claims. A judge has not yet ruled on the motion.
