[UPDATE] Akon’s Arrest & Warrant Stemmed From
Skipping Court Date For Driving w/ A Suspended License
Akon was locked up, but luckily, they did let him out.
Update: #TJBCrew, we now know why Akon was locked up in #Georgia.
The recent arrest stemmed from a bench warrant issued after he failed to appear in court for a driving with a suspended license case, TMZ has confirmed. The situation began in September, when police found the singer’s #Tesla Cybertruck stranded in the middle of the roadway. Officers say Akon, who was behind the wheel, told them the battery had died. While waiting for a tow truck, police discovered his license had been suspended due to a missed court date from January 2023. He was cited for driving on a suspended license and released at the time.
Original story: #Akon was arrested in #Georgia last week. Authorities in #DeKalbCounty took him into custody on an out-of-county warrant.
TMZ reports that his time behind bars wasn’t long, and he was released within six hours. At this time, it’s unclear what the arrest warrant was for. Akon’s camp has not issued any comment regarding the situation.
