Jeezy Reflects On Marriage, Mistakes & Moving Forward After Dramatic Jeannie Mai
Divorce
Jeezy has been doing a lot of self-reflection since becoming a divorcee.
In the latest episode of NXT Chapter with #TDJakes, he opened up about the lessons he learned after his marriage to #JeannieMai ended. “I learned I was a great husband,” the Put On rapper said. “I got a beautiful daughter out of that situation, so there’s no regrets there…I learned about my preferences for things, the type of space that I need, the type of moments that I need to decompress about certain things, and this just unselfish nature,” Jeezy continued. “I was selfish in my prior life. And I think just going forward in life, it just taught me how to give someone else grace and actually listen to understand rather than just to listen to reply.”
He added that truly “sharing a life” with someone requires partnership, something he had to learn, as he “never experienced anything like that” growing up. As reported, #Jeezy and Jeannie went public with their relationship in 2019 after quietly dating for several months. They married in March 2021 during an intimate ceremony at their Atlanta home, and welcomed their daughter, Monaco, in January 2022. In September 2023, Jeezy surprised many by filing for divorce, citing the marriage as “irretrievably broken.” Their split was finalized in 2024 after months of public tension and legal disputes over custody and finances.
