Nicki Minaj launched a rapid-fire series of tweets aimed squarely at California Gov. Gavin Newsom, unleashing a blunt and personal critique of his politics, leadership, and priorities. While Newsom was never directly tagged, Minaj repeatedly referenced him by name — and by a series of mocking nicknames — leaving little ambiguity about her target.

In one of her earliest posts, Minaj wrote, “Imagine being the guy running on wanting to see trans kids. Haha. Not even a trans ADULT would run on that. Normal adults wake up & think they want to see HEALTHY, SAFE, HAPPY kids.” She followed with sharp commentary that framed Newsom as politically opportunistic, later calling him a “career politician at the brink of his moment” who had “realigned to become nothing more than a Nicki Minaj ANTI.”

Minaj escalated her rhetoric by repeatedly using the phrases “TRANSKIDS NEWSOME” and “GRUESOME,” adding, “Wanting to see more TRANSKIDS NEWSOME… GRUESOME. Haha.” She went on to list issues she implied were being ignored, writing, “Fire victims? Nah. Hollywood? Nah. Swatting calls to homes with innocent children? Nah.” She concluded the post with, “GAVIN WANTS ONE THING. TRANSKIDS NEWSOME,” before adding, “this one made me laugh really loud… LMFAOOOOOO… Gotta admit I’m funny.”

In another post, Minaj directly addressed the governor, writing, “Oh Gavvy Pooh the ppl behind you clearly don’t care about you. I can go a lot deeper.” She followed that with what appeared to be a warning, saying, “Today you get another chance. Tmrw no more. I’d switch gears. You & your entire team. Blessings.” As of now, Gov. Gavin Newsom has not publicly responded to Minaj’s remarks, but the rapper made one thing clear: she was not finished — and she was speaking on her terms.
