Tamar Braxton Shuts Down Birdman Affair Claims + Says She Introduced Him to Sister
Toni: ‘Brian & I Were Platonic Friends’
Tamar Braxton is setting the record straight after rumors surfaced questioning her relationship with Birdman.
The R&B singer and reality TV star firmly denied any romantic involvement with her brother-in-law, explaining that she actually helped introduce him to her sister, Toni Braxton. Appearing on “Sherri” on Wednesday, December 16, Tamar shut down speculation linking her to the Cash Money Records co-founder.
“Brian and I were friends first,” Tamar said, referring to Birdman by his legal name. “And like real, platonic friends. He was actually dating one of my friends a long time ago… so when they broke up, Brian and I became really good friends.”
She added that Birdman later pursued Toni after her divorce from Keri Lewis. “And so when Toni got a divorce, [Birdman] was serious about her and made his way in.”
Addressing claims from sister Towanda, Tamar said the accusation hurt because the man involved was “ab*sive.” She also described Birdman as a “brother” and joked about wiping “water” — not sweat — off him during Verzuz.
Toni Braxton, who married Birdman last August, recently called him her “bestie,” adding, “I’m a hopeless romantic… It’s ageless.”
Ladies, are you close with your brother-in-law?
