Donnell Rawlings Pokes Fun At Fellow Comedian Mike Epps For Issuing Apologies Over Controversial Jokes
Comedians and other stars are coming to #MikeEpps’ defense.
Epps has once again found himself in the hot seat after jokingly recalling a moment when he offered to help a homeless family with a hotel stay, only to rescind the offer upon learning a nightly rate was $500. “Looks like y’all have to keep walking… what I can do is for y’all,” he laughed while speaking on #DeonCole’s Funny Knowing You podcast. The clip went viral, sparking backlash and prompting Mike to clarify that he was just joking. “I’m tired of apologizing,” he said. He also recently issued an apology to Nicki Minaj for jokes about her relationship with Donald Trump.
Following his explanation, Donnell Rawlings shared a clip poking fun at Mike’s apology tour, arguing that comedians shouldn’t have to apologize every time a joke misses the mark. Rapper and producer Scarface shared a post with similar sentiments, and several celebrities backed Mike in his explanation video. #MichaelBlackson said, “It’s a shame comedians have to tell jokes with their lawyers next to them smh.” Cedric the Entertainer added, “Anybody that know you , would know you’re the realest and would’ve at least paid for one night!! The timing on the joke was impeccable!!”
#TJBCrew, should comedians have to apologize for their jokes? Or is everything fair game when it comes to comedy?
