N.O.R.E. Says He Made It Cool For Rappers To Switch To Podcasting + Claims Friends Fat Joe & Jadakiss Copied His ‘Formula’ For Their Podcast
N.O.R.E. is demanding y’all put some respect on his name.
The rapper-turned-podcaster sat down with radio host Big Boy and spoke candidly about how he helped open the podcasting door for other rappers. According to N.O.R.E., when he and co-host #DJEFN first launched Drink Champs 10 years ago, they were called “nerds” by their peers. “Podcast was unknown at that time,” he said, explaining the criticism they faced. He also mentioned there were conversations about him “falling off” when he initially pivoted into the audio content space.
Now, with #DrinkChamps a massive hit, N.O.R.E. noted it’s no longer considered strange or uncool for a rapper to pick up a podcast mic. He also saluted friends and fellow rappers Fat Joe and Jadakiss, who host a podcast together, for taking the podcasting “formula” he crafted to make their own series a success. Still, #NORE didn’t seem bothered by the alleged copying, adding that he’s just happy to see more Black media spaces emerging.
