Tyler Perry’s S*xual A$$ault Accuser Mario Rodriguez Seemingly Mocked By Lionsgate In Court Over Minor ‘Madea’ Role As $77 Million Lawsuit Faces Pushback
Tyler Perry accuser Mario Rodriguez is facing scrutiny in court as new legal filings challenge both his claims and his connection to the film at the center of the dispute.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, Rodriguez—who has accused filmmaker Tyler Perry of s*xual a$$ault—was criticized by distributor Lionsgate for his limited involvement in one of Perry’s productions.
In its motion to be dismissed from the lawsuit, Lionsgate stated Rodriguez “spent less than a week playing ‘Frat Guy #10’” in the Madea film and noted that he admitted there was no misconduct during his time on set.
The company further argued, “now, tens years later, [Mario] is suing Lionsgate for negligent retention regarding alleged sexual advances [Tyler] allegedly made towards him at Tyler’s private residence (not on Lionsgate property or project; before filming occurred; and years after the shoot wrapped.” Lionsgate claims the lawsuit is “a transparent ploy” to keep the case out of federal court.
Rodriguez, who appeared in Boo! A Madea Halloween, is seeking $77 million in damages, alleging Perry made unwanted advances after the two met in 2015.
Perry has denied the allegations, stating they have “no basis in fact or law,” and claiming Rodriguez previously sought financial assistance before filing suit.
